Sage's Homemade Facial Toner

-2 cups witch hazel (the kind that is next to the rubbing alcohol in the store.)
-2 tbsp. vanilla extract
-1 tsp. peppermint extract (opt.)
-2 tbsp. Sage's All Natural Citrus Cleanser (opt.) (recipe in another post)

Measure out the witch hazel into a baking pan so it is in a thin layer, about 1/2 inch deep. Let this sit for a week. This way, all of the alcohol in it evaporates out and it won't burn your skin. Mix the remaining ingredients into it, and store it in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Dab onto your face (after washing it) with a cotton ball. Allow to dry on.

Sage's Homemade Citrus Cleanser

-Citrus fruit peels (enough to fill a glass jar with tight fitting lid. Use orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, etc.)
- Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (enough to fill your jar)

Place it all into your jar, and close the lid tightly. Let it sit for 2-3 months, or until it smells more like an orange than vinegar. This is good for more than just skin care. It is literally all purpose. I use it in the kitchen all the time. It is also a natural disinfectant.

Homemade Deodorant

3/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
2 teaspoons of your favorite perfume (or as desired)

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Sage's Homemade Dead-Skin-Cell Sloughing Body Scrub

-2 cups sugar or salt.
-1/4 cup old coffee grounds
-1/4 cup vinegar
-1/2 cup coconut oil

Mix it all together and store in a bowl. Scrub well, and experience softly exfoliated skin! Make sure you rinse well!

Dish Soap Disaster

So I have dish duty today, but after doing a load, I realized I was out of dish soap. Mega uh-oh. With 6 people in the house, and no dishwasher, lets just say it doesn't take long for dishes to accumulate. So I decided to get creative. I looked up a dish soap recipe, but most of them needed castile soap. Then I found this one:

1 bar Irish Spring soap
4 c. water
4tbsp. Borax
4tbsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. white vinegar
1/2 cup butter, oil, or lard

Then it rambled on with very complex directions that took forty five minutes to complete. Not to mention cooling time. By time it was done, I ended up with about 1/2 cup of dish soap. So, I ran the water, and poured some in.

-It didn't bubble.
-It made my dishes greasy
-It dirtied more dishes.

I guess this is when I go buy a bottle of Dawn. Oh well. I guess you learn something new every day.
